Dr. Gina Wong (she/her) is the Founder and Ambassador of the Asian Gold Ribbon Campaign. She is a professor and psychologist in Canada and was born to Chinese immigrant parents. Gina is a mother to 2 biracial daughters and 1 stepson.
Prior to the pandemic, she had no idea she would launch into anti-racism work. Her clinical expertise includes developmental, relational, and racial trauma; parenting challenges: perinatal mood and anxiety disorders; and reproductive forensics. Gina has authored/edited four books: Counsellor Know Thyself: Growing Ourselves, Shaping our Professional Practice (Wong, 2010); Moms Gone Mad: Motherhood and Madness Oppression and Resistance (Wong, 2012), Mothering in East Asian Communities: Politics and Practices (Duncan & Wong, 2014), and Infanticide and Filicide: Foundations in maternal mental health forensics (Wong & Parnham, 2021).
She is a researcher and presents nationally and internationally, acting as a consultant around the globe to individuals, professionals, and organizations. Gina enjoys sharing ideas about leadership on a variety of topics including anti-Asian racism, Asian mental health, reproductive mental health forensics, parenting road maps, and relationship fulfillment.
Gina has developed, the “TRREE of Life, Leadership, and Legacy Counselling and Consulting model,” which is a trauma-informed approach based on 20 years of her clinical practice and her own lived experiences. Gina inspires others to live a life that is “one for the ages”-- leaving a profound and enduring legacy for future generations.
